This privacy policy states Freibrun Law’s policies and practices with respect to personal information, e.g., name, email address and other personal identifiers (“Personal Information”) provided to us via this website, e.g., through the “Contact” page email address and as noted below.

Freibrun Law is a law firm located near Chicago, Illinois, USA. We serve clients across the country and throughout the world. By sending Freibrun Law any Personal Information, you consent to its processing and storage within the United States, irrespective of the country in which you reside or from which you access this website, and consent to its handling as stated in this Privacy Policy. This law firm’s activities and operations are governed exclusively by the laws of the United States of America and the State of Illinois.

As a law firm, we have always regarded our professional obligation to maintain the confidentiality of client information as sacrosanct, and will continue to do so. If you are a client of Freibrun Law, which requires that you enter into a written Attorney-Client Agreement with us, the confidentiality of your information, including your Personal Information, is protected by law under the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys.

Regardless of whether you are a client of Freibrun Law, we do not sell, rent or monetize anyone’s Personal Information, as understood under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or any other privacy law or regulation to which we may be subject. We will only use your Personal Information for the purposes for which it was provided, as stated in this Privacy Policy, and subject to applicable law.

Freibrun Law has implemented robust measures and practices to prevent the inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure of, or unauthorized access to, information relating to the representation of our clients, and to Personal Information. We rely on the technical data security and protection capabilities of Microsoft 365 Business, including data encryption, and other technologies. In addition, Freibrun Law independently takes reasonable and appropriate premises-level, device-level, and application-level data security and protection measures in the operation of our law practice.

If you visit this site and wish to remain anonymous, that is exactly what will happen, because you will not be identified to us. We will not know you were here unless you tell us. If you send an email to Freibrun Law providing your name, email address or other Personal Information, whether through our “Contact” page or otherwise, that information may be saved, and Freibrun Law may use it only to communicate with you regarding the subject of your inquiry, regarding establishing an attorney-client relationship, or to send you informational or marketing communications. By viewing this website, cookies (text files containing small amounts of information) may automatically be placed on a viewer’s device to gather anonymous usage data relating to website page views and the duration of those views. These cookies do not reveal or collect any Personal Information, and may be placed on a viewer’s device automatically by the software used to create this website (WordPress) or by our hosting services provider (Go Daddy). Most web browsers (e.g., Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.), through their settings or options, permit users to delete or prevent the placement of cookies or other web tracking technologies on their browsers or devices. The technology we use to host our website does not have the ability to process “Do Not Track” requests. We do not use Google analytics.

We may retain information provided by you, including Personal Information, for as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, or to achieve the purposes for which the information was originally collected and for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

There may be links to third party websites on this site. Those sites will likely have their own separate and independent privacy policies and terms of use. Freibrun Law is not responsible for what those third parties say or do.

We do not disclose any Personal Information to third parties, except in limited circumstances. These may include disclosures to our agents or data processors or other contractors acting on our behalf and at our direction. Such disclosures will be subject to appropriate confidentiality, privacy and data security commitments obtained from the receiving party, or where we believe it necessary to provide a service which you have requested, or as permitted or required by law, or as you otherwise direct or authorize us to do. While very unlikely, it is possible we may need to disclose Personal Information without prior notice to you in response to subpoenas, court orders or other legal process, to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims, or when we believe it necessary in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, and/or to protect our rights and property or those of others with which we do business. Also, we may need to do this if we sell, buy, merge or partner with another law firm or legal services entity or contemplate doing so, where Personal Information or client information may be among the transferred assets or disclosed information, or where we deem it necessary to do so for client conflict of interest determination, but in those circumstances, only in a manner consistent with our obligations under the Illinois Rules of Professional Responsibility for attorneys.
